Lingua di insegnamento | ITALIANO |
Testi di riferimento | Gallucci, M., Leone, L. (2012). Modelli statistici per le scienze sociali. Milano-Torino, Pearson Italia. |

Course objectives | The internship activities aim to provide students with the ability to construct and/or verify a database containing psychological data, with the purpose of assessing the psychometric properties of one or more measurement instruments and/or testing specific research hypotheses. The skills acquired during these internship activities will be applicable in all areas of psychology that involve the use of psychometric measurement tools, including clinical, research, and applied contexts. These activities will, in fact, enable students to gain a greater theoretical and practical competence for evaluating and verifying the psychometric properties of custom-made or literature-available measurement instruments. This, in turn, will allow for a more informed and critical selection and utilization of psychometric measurement tools and empirical research results. |
Prerequisites | The knowledge of measurement theory, statistical inference, and major techniques for multivariate data analysis (e.g., regression and factor analysis) |
Teaching methods | Face-to-face meetings open to discussion, with the use of audio-video materials, slides, software, etc. |
Evaluation methods | To obtain eligibility, each intern must submit a Final Report. The Report can be co-signed by a maximum of two individuals and should focus on summarizing and interpreting the data analysis conducted. The Report should adhere to the guidelines provided in the template supplied by the tutor. The evaluation of the Report will consider the comprehensiveness and clarity of the information presented, as well as the correctness of the interpretation of the results. |
Other information | This internship activity falls under the category of Internal Practical Evaluation Internship (TPV) activities, accounting for 6 CFU (university credits) and is chosen by the student. Booking can be made starting from the beginning of the academic year, following the procedures published on the Course of Study's webpage, and in any case, before the start of the activities. A maximum of 25 students can participate in this activity for each edition. Attendance at meetings with the tutor is mandatory, and absences cannot be made up. If all available slots are filled, students must choose another TPV from the options available both internally and externally. To complete the educational pathway as specified by the Course of Study, each student is required to acquire a total of 30 CFU from TPV activities (for more information, please refer to the educational regulations published on the Course of Study's webpage). |
Course Syllabus | The internship will consist of two parts. In the first part, students will learn how to construct and/or verify a database using data analysis software. In the second phase, students will learn to perform analyses aimed at assessing the psychometric properties of measurement instruments (reliability and validity) and testing hypotheses (linear models). |
