Contents | The course will be developed by deepening both the methodological and statistical aspects useful to analyse and verify the main psychometric characteristics of psychological measuring instruments (in terms of dimensionality, reliability and validity), according to the classical perspective of testing. In particular, the techniques of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis will be discussed. The measurement models presented during the course will be treated both from a theoretical and an applicative point of view through appropriate examples and referring to simulated and real data. |

Course objectives | The course aims to develop in the student the ability to benefit from the results of empirical research based on measuring instruments with greater awareness and critical spirit, also the aim of the course is to equip students with the basic statistical-methodological skills useful to analyse the main psychometric characteristics of measuring instruments. |
Prerequisites | The preliminary knowledge needed is related to the subjects dealt with in the disciplines with methodological-statistical content of the teachings in the Bachelor of Science and the Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, in particular, the subjects of the course of "Methods and techniques of research in clinical psychology and Laboratory". |
Teaching methods | The data analysis models and techniques presented during the course will be treated both from a theoretical and an applicative point of view through appropriate examples and referring to both didactic and real data. |
Evaluation methods | For the acquisition of the course CFU there is a final examination with a vote in thirtieths. The exam consists of a written test aimed at assessing the level of knowledge of the topics indicated in the program and covered during the lessons, as well as the student's ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. In order to take the final exam, it is necessary to have obtained the suitability of the laboratory associated with the course. |
Other information | This course is associated with a laboratory of 4 CFU. During the hours dedicated to laboratory activities, students will have to apply, through simulated data and/or ad hoc data collected, the main models of data analysis in the program. |
