    Obiettivi formativi

    Il laboratorio espresso di “Uso di software per la ricerca psicosociale” sarà tenuto dal prof. Augusto Gnisci per 16 ore (2 CFU) e dalla prof.ssa Francesca D’Olimpio per 8 ore (1 CFU). Esso intende trasmettere allo/a studente/studentessa le competenze e le abilità informatiche per eseguire una efficace e corretta analisi dei dati in ambito di psicologia sociale e applicata. Se da un lato costituisce un’applicazione dei concetti e delle teorie psicometriche legate all’insegnamento di Metodologia e tecnica della ricerca applicata, dall’altro, si pone come obiettivo primario di fornire allo/a studente/studentessa un ventaglio di competenze concettuali, statistiche e informatiche specifiche riguardo le più utilizzate tecniche di analisi in psicologia sociale e applicata che possano coadiuvarlo in un eventuale lavoro di tesi basato su una ricerca quantitativa.
    Per il superamento dell’esame lo studente dovrà essere in grado di:
    a) scegliere il tipo di analisi corretta per rispondere a qualunque ipotesi di ricerca, stante il tipo di problema di ricerca, di disegno di ricerca e di variabili utilizzate nell’analisi;
    b) utilizzare l’appropriata tecnica di analisi dei dati col programma statistico utilizzato nelle lezioni (principalmente Jamovi), in particolare applicato all’uso di variabili legate ad uno strumento di misura come un inventario di personalità o una scala di atteggiamenti. Tra tali tecniche di analisi saranno presenti le più comuni tecniche utilizzate in psicologia sociale e applicata (come Analisi delle Componenti Principali, l’ANOVA, Chi quadro, correlazione e regressione) e alcune più avanzate (Analisi della mediazione e della moderazione).
    c) interpretare l’output statistico dei programmi statistici e identificare l’eventuale verifica dell’ipotesi di ricerca.

    Prerequisiti

    Matematica livello scuole superiori, conoscenze e competenze psicometriche di base, conoscenze più avanzate delle tecniche di analisi fattoriali. I prerequisiti consigliati non sono, comunque, vincolanti ai fini del sostenimento della prova d’esame.

    Metodi didattici

    Le lezioni saranno organizzate in modo tale che il carico di ore sia orientativamente distribuito in tre tipi di attività didattica: circa 8 ore (1 CFU) saranno dedicate a lezioni frontali con uso di PowerPoint su aspetti statistici e informatici connessi tra di loro; circa 8 ore (1 CFU) saranno dedicate a lezioni al computer col programma statistico (Jamovi) guidate dal docente; e, infine, circa 8 ore (1 CFU) saranno dedicate ad esercitazioni in aula individuali o di gruppo al computer, in cui il docente assegna un compito che gli/le studenti/studentesse devono risolvere in autonomia.
    La frequenza è obbligatoria e sarà rilevata con l’app MyVanvitelli all’inizio, alla fine e nel corso delle lezioni. Per conseguire l’idoneità lo/la studente/essa deve frequentare almeno il 70% delle lezioni e, in caso di assenza, dovrà dimostrare di aver recuperato le ore di lezioni in cui era assente. Il recupero avviene attraverso la consegna dei filedati e degli output trattati nella lezione persa.

    Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

    Il laboratorio prevede il conseguimento di una idoneità.
    Per conseguire l’idoneità gli/le studenti/esse non dovranno sostenere un esame ma dimostrare di: a) saper individuare l’analisi adeguata al file dei dati che verrà proposto dai docenti; b) saper implementare l’analisi; c) saper interpretare i risultati ottenuti. Tale dimostrazione avverrà con la consegna dei seguenti materiali a distanza di un mese circa dalla fine dell’ultima lezione: 1) i file dati e gli output delle analisi guidate e libere effettuate in classe; 2) output di analisi e relativo elaborato sulla base di un compito specifico di ricerca assegnato dai docenti. In base alla valutazione dei docenti di tale materiale, a ciascuno/a studente/studentessa potrà essere assegnata l’idoneità oppure delle indicazioni puntuali per la revisione del lavoro. L’idoneità si ottiene quando la valutazione sarà valutata almeno adeguata dai docenti sulla base dei seguenti criteri: correttezza della scelta della tecnica di analisi rispetto al quesito posto; correttezza e completezza nell’esecuzione dell’analisi statistica del file dati consegnato dai docenti; correttezza e aderenza dell’elaborato ai file di output forniti dagli/lle studenti/studentesse; qualità scientifica della scrittura dell’elaborato.

    1) Navarro, D.J., & Foxcroft, D.R. (2022). learning statistics with Jamovi: A tutorial for psychology students and other beginners. (Version 0.75). DOI: 10.24384/hgc3-7p15. Free English version.
    2) Barbaranelli, C., & D'Olimpio, F. (2007). Data analysis with SPSS. The basic analyzes (Vol. 1). LED.
    Various materials will be provided in the classroom including:
    1) printouts for carrying out data analysis with certain software;
    2) portions of book chapters (within the limits indicated by law);
    3) syntax for performing certain analyses.

    Course objectives

    The practice laboratory of "Use of software for psychosocial research" will be held by prof. Augusto Gnisci for 16 hours (2 CFU) and by prof. Francesca D'Olimpio for 8 hours (1 CFU). It intends to convey to the students the skills and abilities to perform effective and correct data analysis in the field of social and applied psychology. If on the one hand it constitutes an application of the psychometric concepts and theories linked to the class of "Metodologia e tecnica della ricerca applicata”, on the other, its primary objective is to provide the learner with a range of specific skills regarding the most used analyzes in social and applied psychology that can assist him in a possible thesis work based on quantitative research.
    At the end of the lessons the student must be able to:
    a) choose the correct type of analysis to respond to any research hypothesis, given the type of research problem, research design and variables used in the analysis;
    b) use the appropriate data analysis technique with the statistical program(s) used during the lessons (Jamovi, JASP, SPSS, etc.), in particular applied to the use of variables linked to a measurement instrument such as a personality inventory or an attitude scale. Among these analysis techniques there will be the most common techniques used in social psychology such as Principal Component Analysis (ACP), ANOVA, Chi square, correlation and regression.
    c) interpret the statistical output of statistical programs and identify any verification of the research hypothesis.

    Prerequisites

    High school-level mathematics, basic psychometric knowledge and skills, and more advanced knowledge of factor analysis techniques. The recommended prerequisites, however, are not mandatory for taking the exam.

    Teaching methods

    Classes will be structured so that the workload is indicatively distributed across three types of teaching activities: approximately 8 hours (1 CFU) will be dedicated to lectures using PowerPoint on related statistical and informatic topics; approximately 8 hours (1CFU) will be dedicated to computer-based lessons using the statistics program (Jamovi), led by the instructor; and, finally, approximately 8 hours (1 CFU) will be dedicated to individual or group computer-based exercises in the classroom, in which the instructor assigns tasks that students must complete independently.
    Attendance is mandatory and will be detected using the MyVanvitelli app at the beginning, end, and throughout the lessons. To qualify, students must attend at least 70% of the lessons and, in the event of an absence, must demonstrate that they have made up the hours of lessons they missed. This recovery is achieved by submitting the data files and outputs covered in the missed lesson.

    Assessment methods

    The workshop requires a pass mark.
    To pass, students will not be required to take an exam but will demonstrate: a) their ability to identify the appropriate analysis for the data file proposed by the instructors; b) their ability to implement the analysis; c) their ability to interpret the results obtained. This demonstration will be accomplished by submitting the following materials approximately one month after the end of the last lesson: 1) the data files and the outputs of the guided and free-form analyses performed in class; 2) the analysis output and the related paper based on a specific research assignment assigned by the instructors. Based on the instructors' evaluation of this material, each student may be assigned a pass mark or specific instructions for reviewing their work. Pass marks are achieved when the instructors assess the assessment as at least adequate based on the following criteria: correctness of the choice of analysis technique with respect to the question posed; accuracy and completeness in the statistical analysis of the data file submitted by the instructors; correctness and adherence of the paper to the output files provided by the students; scientific quality of the writing of the paper
