    Obiettivi formativi

    Aiutare gli studenti a raggiungere una competenza linguistica in Inglese di livello B2/C1 in Inglese, secondo la Common
    European Framework of Reference for Languages attraverso un approccio funzionale comunicativo. Il focus principale dei
    corsi sarà sul processo di lettura e scrittura nell'ambito della ricerca psicologica e/o sulla linguistica cognitiva e sulla linguistica
    applicata e applicabile (Content Based Language Learning).

    Prerequisiti

    Prerequisiti Minimi: Conoscenza dell'Inglese a livello A2 per le abilità audio-orali e B1 per la lettura e comprensione.

    Metodologie didattiche

    Attraverso un approccio comunicativo e nozionale -funzionale, si procederà alla lettura e discussione, orale e scritta, di articoli sia divulgativi e scientifici, blogs, materiali didattici e video afferenti l'ambito degli studi psicologici, in parte a scelta dello studente. Si raccomanda, oltre all'utilizzo dei siti sotto indicati, la selezione di un corso (breve) dalla piattaforma edX, creata dalla Harvard University e dal MIT, gratuita e open source, all'indirizzo https://www.edx.org/about-us, che sia di interesse per gli studi di psicologia.
    La didattica si svolgerà in laboratorio multimediale, per facilitare lo sviluppo delle abilità audio-orali e l' organizzazione di esercitazioni individuali e di gruppo, la discussione, verifica ed elaborazione di materiali selezionati dagli studenti.

    Metodi di valutazione

    Si tratta di esame orale che prevede la valutazione del livello raggiunto dagli studenti attraverso la presentazione e discussione, in Inglese, dei materiali del corso (per esempio: lettura ad alta voce di alcuni testi con pronunzia comprensibile, traduzione, riassunto orale, discussione articolata in domande e risposte).

    Course objectives

    Course goals and objectives: to help learners achieve B2/C1 linguistic competence in English, according to the Common
    European Framework of Reference for Languages through a functional/communicative approach. The major foci of the
    course will be on the reading-writing process in the domain of psychological research, and on both cognitive and
    applied/appliable linguistics (Content Based Language Learning).

    Prerequisites

    Minimum prerequisite: A2 English competence for speaking and listening skills; B1 English competence for reading and comprehension.

    Teaching methods

    Through a communicative notional -functional approach , the reading and comprehension and (oral/written) discussion of both popular and scientific articles within the domain of psychology, as well as blogs, videos and teaching materials will be proposed.
    Materials can partly be proposed by students. In addition to the websites listed below, students need to select a short edX course, from the free, open source edX online learning destination and MOOC provider, founded by Harvard University and MIT in 2012, at: https://www.edx.org/about-us. They have to report and discuss some materials from their chosen course, which has to be relevant for psychology studies.
    The lessons will take place in a multimedia laboratory so as to facilitate the development of audio-oral skills and the framing of both individual and small groups activities as well as the discussion and elaboration of student-selected materials.

    Evaluation methods

    Assessment: the student learning outcomes will be assessed through an oral discussion (read aloud, translate, ask and answer questions; discuss) of the course materials and textbook.

    Other information

    Participation to the course is mandatory.
