Contents | The course deals with the psychodynamics of groups in clinical contexts, from a psychoanalytic point of view. Their structure, the laws, the principles and processes that govern them, the relationship between individual and group and between the intrapsychic world and intersubjective links, the functional and dysfunctional conflicts and defenses, the analysis of unconscious and conscious levels are described; care through the group, in the presence of mental illness or overt psychopathology as well as in traumatic situations, individual and / or family. Reference texts written by the leading exponents of psychoanalytic thought on Italian and foreign groups will be used, starting from the founders and reaching the contemporary era, to the actuality of the clinic practiced with groups and groups. The use of the psychotherapeutic group with children and adults will be illustrated, by way of example, within the institutions, social welfare and health, of the communities, as well as the group dynamics of the same institutions. This in order to allow the students of the course to prefigure the different models of clinical intervention, even non-psychotherapeutic, through the group's tool and to learn the criteria for choosing one or the other model, based on the question, to the context, to the type of recipients. |
Textbook and course materials | Bion, W.R.(1961). esperienze nei gruppi. Armando Editore, Roma, 1971 o successive edizioni. |
Course objectives | • Knowledge of the main conceptions of the "group", of the unconscious psychic groupality, of group bonds, of the individual-group relationship, of the interpsychic and intersubjective dynamics that characterize the group functioning, seen from the analytical perspective and from the "founders" of the discipline of group psychoanalysis and following its developments and extensions through contemporary Italian and foreign authors and their most recent contributions published in Italian. |
Prerequisites | Have acquired the fundamentals of dynamic and clinical psychology in the three-year course of study |
Teaching methods | Lectures: the lecturer will present the contents of the program of group dynamics in clinical contexts, requesting the participation of the students in the ongoing discussion, orally and possibly with slides and / or multimedia contents (example videos of the subject treated). on such contents, to ask questions and to elaborate a critical, analytical thought, with the help of the teacher. The formation of small study groups on spontaneous adhesion will also be favored, for those who wish to deepen some themes and experience a group work and the ways in which a group thought develops and works. This will not constitute a prejudicially favorable factor for the purposes of the examination of profit (for example a bonus for a higher grade), compared to other students who do not choose this mode of study and learning. The advantage is inherent in learning faster and deeper at the same time. For non-attending students, the lecturer will dedicate a specific time, during student reception, to provide additional information to guide them in the most effective study methodology for them. |
Evaluation methods | The exam will be taken individually and orally. The candidate will be free to confer on the study program starting from his own conceptual map, or from a chosen topic. The teacher will ask questions to ascertain: a) the successful or not acquisition of the fundamental concepts of the discipline; b) the ability to process critical thinking; c) knowing how to differentiate the different theoretical concepts and the different clinical methodologies for groups, evaluating their applicability in various contexts; f) the clarity of the presentation of the contents learned and the ability to discuss it with the teacher |
Other information | It is advisable to proceed with the study of the texts starting from the text of W.R. Bion "Experiences in groups", then to follow the order of the list of texts indicated by the teacher. |
